Dawn Marshall

Dawn has been intrigued with photography as long as she can remember. She bought her first camera using green stamps when she was around 10 years old. Dawn wanted to show others the different views of the world around them. It’s not an opinion or a description, it’s real, and the photo proves it. Opinions are formed from the perception of each individual viewer. It’s those perceptions that can open up a different world if we allow them. They are opinions. You don’t have to accept them, just acknowledge their existence. Dawn’s view and opinion may not be exactly as another may envision, but it allows for a sense of reality. It allows for the recognition of experiences and feelings, and renders them real.

“I believe art is everywhere and within everything, we just have to be willing to see it and acknowledge it. There is no good or bad, right or wrong, it exists within all and surrounds all. It is our perceptions which differentiate the “good or bad”, the “right or wrong”. Art is a way in which an individual attempts to communicate to others. In many cases one attempts to create something tangible from a figurative existence. On a daily basis people are trying to explain how they feel to others. Art follows this same concept. It is courageous for anyone, including artist to expose their personal feelings in such a public manner. Art is as varied and unique as there are individuals. We are all artist, we just don’t know it. “

“I believe it is possible this is how the concept of “starving artist” originated. No one wants to expose themselves completely to anyone else, let alone to strangers. Most fear the possibility of ridicule. Art is a way in which anyone can productively express themselves. When we take away the ability to constructively express ourselves we are left with built up frustrations within. That is more apparent these days as art programs are being reduced more and more each year.”
