Debbie Scott-Queenin
Photography
Debbie Scott-Queenin resides in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and frequents downtown, looking for unique and creative captures of people, architecture, and events. If not in downtown Fort Lauderdale, Debbie enjoys searching for opportunities elsewhere that can be artistically transformed into a story or that which would evoke an emotion by the viewer. When not photographing, Debbie stays active with community projects and is learning to play the flute.
Debbie's Artist Statement:
Photography has become an artistic tool for visual communication for me. Even though I consider myself to be in infancy stages, I have learned a great deal over the past couple of years – not just about my camera and what it can do, but about myself. I enjoy searching for unique and creative ways to connect to my subject, whether it’s animal, vegetable, or mineral, and to convey a story and/or an emotion to my audience. I’ve come to appreciate that it’s what’s in my head that matters, and not so much the apparatus that separates me from the subject. Prior to my current life as a photographer, I was an urban planner specializing in seaports. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, but have resided in Fort Lauderdale for 41 years. South Florida has been my breeding ground for creative photography.
