- Grange Over Sands is a quiet town nestling in the heart of the Cumbrian countryside with its rolling hills and quaint little cottages and inns.The ornamental gardens and lake are fashioned out of a plot of marshland in 1865 by a Mr Alexander Brogden, who turned it into the ornamental gardens to benefit the public. The Grange Community Orchard is just opposite of the Ornamental Gardens, which include a number of traditional varieties of fruit; such as apple, pear, and damson trees. It also has some rather unusual species as well. These are quince, mulberry and medlar.I wanted to document the lake and the many species of ducks which were there at the time. It was such a restful scene and takes one back to a slower time of life. Art is my passion and always will be, ever since an early age I was always drawing and painting, winning many school competitions for the best painting. To this day, I have no idea how many drawing books and rubbers, pencils etc. I managed to go through. I work mainly from my vast collection of personal photos I have taken over the many years, when I have been on vacation. I always have my camera at hand as it is my friend, and if I come across a certain scene or area of interest, I like, I take a photo. Then when I am at home, in my studio, I start working on it.
