About the Artist: Maria Bertolone is an artist from Blackpool, United Kingdom. She loves Landscape painting which is her main genre. Bringing a scene to life by creating the mood and atmosphere, thus drawing the viewer in so that they feel part of the scene, gives her a real sense of achievement. She is a realist and endeavors to convey that quality as much as possible in all her pieces. This brings certain challenges, such as constructing the composition then playing around with tonal values adding these things together just like fitting a jigsaw puzzle, and adding all the details, essentially the time of day, where a shadow might fall or sunlight dappling a winding path. - St John's Parish Church was completed in 1878 and is now a Grade 11 listed building. It is an Anglican church right within the hub of central Blackpool's thoroughfare, built in honor of St John the Evangelist and comes under the borough of Lancashire, England. Originally built in 1821 it was replaced by the building I represent in my painting it is much bigger than the original church as it was decided that the size of the new church should represent the growing congregation. It was consecrated in July 6th 1821 by a Mr. George Law who was the Bishop of Chester, and was designed in the early English style from yellow stone with slate roofs and ashlar interiors. Restoration and renovation took place in 1986 and also from 2000-2006. "It is such a lovely and majestic building, a haven of peace and tranquility situated right in the heart of the busy and bustling Blackpool town thoroughfare, England that I just had to document it whilst on a visit to the town centre one lovely sunny morning. I'd taken my camera with me as I always do and took the perfect photo. After it was developed I set to work creating the mood and lighting of the scene, which was such a joy to paint and the inspiration behind this piece which was created in 2001."~ Maria Bertolone Art is my passion and always will be, ever since an early age I was always drawing and painting, winning many school competitions for the best painting.
